Heart of Devotion Retreat with Krishna Das In-Person
Friday, Apr 14, 2023 - Monday, Apr 17, 2023
Fri April 14-Mon April 17, 2023
Please note: To attend a retreat or event all guests, teachers, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including at least one booster (additional boosters are optional). We will continue to follow any COVID-19 guidelines set forth by our local officials, New York State and the CDC.
Join Krishna Das for a weekend retreat of yoga, chanting and devotional heart-opening practices. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with a group of dedicated seekers and immerse yourself in practices, teachings and discussions. Over this retreat weekend, there will be nightly kirtan, chanting, lead by Krishna Das as well as workshops, mostly spoken word, where you will have the opportunity to ask questions if you would like.
Also included in the retreat program, is group chanting of Hanuman Chalisas with Nina Rao. This is an opportunity for beginners and experienced chanters to join in the chanting of this 40-verse prayer in praise of Hanuman, together as a group. The prayer is from the Indian tradition with Hanuman invoked as the very breath of the Divine – our own Divine nature. Many believe that chanting this prayer gives us the strength to get through difficult times with compassion and grace. Word sheets will be provided. No experience necessary.
In order to help you transition into “retreat mode” there will be a Gentle Yoga Class to help you “land” on Friday Afternoon – 4:15 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. ET – This class will include some gentle stretching and restorative postures, breathing, and meditation.
Saturday and Sunday morning yoga classes will be 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. ET. These will be more active asana classes appropriate and safe for all levels – these classes will be dynamic and uplifting. They will cultivate focus, strength and mobility, and prepare us to sit for chanting and Q and A with Krishna Das and Nina Rao. Please bring yoga props with you if you can.
All yoga classes will be held in the downstairs auditorium.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC KIRTAN FOR THIS RETREAT THIS YEAR.
